Creamed New Potatoes & Peas

8 small new potatoes, scraped
1 1/2 cup of shelled English peas
salt
1/2 teaspoon of sugar
one 4ounce carton of whipped cream cheese with chives
1/4 cup of milk

 

Cook the potatoes in salted water for 15 to 20 minutes, then drain. Cook the peas in a small amount of boiling water until tender, adding 1/2 teaspoon of salt and the sugar, then drain the peas. Blend the cream cheese, milk and 1/4 teaspoon of salt together in a saucepan and heat, stirring over low heat just until warm. Combine the hot potatoes and peas in a serving dish and pour the cream cheese sauce over the vegetables. Makes 4 - 6 servings
