| Old Fashioned French Onion Soup 5 Medium onions, sliced 3 tablespoons of butter 1 1/2 quarts of beef broth 1/2 teaspoon of salt (season to taste) 1/8 teaspoon of pepper (season to taste) Cheese croutons
Sauté the onions in melted butter in a large saucepan. Cook slowly, stirring until golden, about 10 minutes. Blend in beef broth, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
