Country Steak & Chili Gravy

2 pounds of steak, cut in pieces
1 teaspoon of salt Basic-Recipes.com9/21/06
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
1 egg, beaten with 2 tablespoons of water
1 cup of finely crushed corn flakes
1 teaspoon of chili powder
1/4 cup of cooking oil
1 medium onion, sliced
1 green pepper, sliced
two 8 ounce cans of tomato sauce
3/4 cup of water

Pound the steak, sprinkle with salt and pepper. Dip steak in egg, roll in corn flakes mixed with chili powder. Brown the steak in hot oil; Add onion and green pepper. Pour tomato sauce and water over all; simmer for 1 hour or until tender. Makes 6 servings
