Sourdough Biscuits >

Sourdough Biscuits 4

1 cup of warm water
1 package of dry yeast
1/2 cup of sugar
3/4 cup of Crisco oil
2 cups of buttermilk
3 tablespoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt
7 cups of flour
 

Mix in order listed. Roll out dough or pinch off and bake at 350 to 375ºF. for 12 minutes. May be stored in refrigerator for days.

Sourdough Biscuits

2 cups of flour (part whole wheat)
1 teaspoon of soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of sourdough starter
1 tablespoon of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1/4 cup of butter or margarine

Mix all the dry ingredients and cut in butter. Moisten with sourdough starter. Roll 1/2 inch thick. Place on greased baking sheet. Bake at 425ºF. for 20 minutes or until light brown. 

Sourdough Biscuits

1 cup of flour
1 tablespoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of soda
1/2 teaspoon of sugar
1/4 cup of shortening
1 cup of Sourdough Starter
2 tablespoons of melted margarine

Stir flour, baking powder, salt, soda, and sugar. Cut in the shortening to cornmeal stage. Stir in Starter until soft dough forms. Knead gently about 30 seconds. Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut. Put on ungreased sheet. Let rest 15 minutes. Bake at 425ºF. for 12 minutes.
