Cranberry-Grape Sauce

1/2 cup of  water
1/2 cup of white Zinfandel wine or cranberry juice cocktail
1/3 to 2/3 cup of sugar
1 1/2 cup of cranberries (6 oz.)
3/4 cup of seedless red grapes
1/2 teaspoon of grated fresh ginger or 1/2 tsp. snipped fresh mint
1/8 teaspoon of ground cloves


In a medium saucepan, combine water, wine or juice, and sugar. Bring to boiling, stirring occasionally until sugar is dissolved. Add cranberries, grapes, grated ginger, if using, and cloves. Return to boiling. Reduce heat.
Cook, covered, for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Uncover and cook 10 minutes more, stirring occasionally. Stir in mint (if using) just before serving. Serve warm or chilled with grilled goose or turkey. Makes 6 servings.
