Burgundy Beefburgers

2 pounds of ground chuck
1 cup of soft bread crumbs
1 egg
1/4 cup of red cooking wine not sweet
2 tablespoons of sliced green onions
1 teaspoon of salt
a dash of pepper


In a large bowl, toss all ingredients with a fork until well mixed.  Shape in 8 patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Broil over hot coals. turning once and brushing frequently with Burgundy sauce, 13 - 15 minutes total cooking time or until of desired doneness. Heat remaining sauce to pass. Serves 8

Burgundy Sauce: Cook 2 tablespoons of sliced scallions in 1/2 cup of butter until just tender. Add 1/3 cup of red cooking wine.
