Ozark Pie

1/2 cup of all purpose flour
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 eggs
1 cup of brown sugar, firmly packed
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 cup of chopped walnuts
1 cup of finely chopped apples
One 9 inch unbaked pie shell
Whipped cream or ice cream for garnish
1/2 cup of broken nuts  

Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Beat the eggs until light and lemon colored. Beat in sugar gradually. Continue to beat until creamy. Stir in flour mixture, vanilla, nuts and apples, mix well. Spoon into pie shell. Bake at 450ºF. for 15 minutes reduce heat to 350ºF. and bake for 15 minutes longer, or until filling is set. Cool pie. Garnish with whipped cream or ice cream. Decorate with chopped nuts. Serves 6
