Baked Spareribs & Dressing

1 cup of chopped apple
1 cup of hot water
4 cups of dry bread crumbs
1 teaspoon of sage
1/2 cup of chopped onion
1 teaspoon of salt
4 pounds of meaty pork spareribs 

In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients except the spareribs. Add more water if a moist stuffing is desired. Place the dressing in the bottom of a greased baking dish. Place the ribs on top. Cover tightly with foil. Bake in a 350ºF. oven for 2 hours or until the meat is tender. Serves 4 to 6
