Glazed Spareribs with Apples Basic-Recipes.com9/1/06

5 to 6 pounds of lean meaty spareribs
1/2 cup of apricot jam
2 tablespoons of prepared mustard
1/2 cop of hot water
6 firm baking apples
1/2 cup of brown sugar  

Arrange the ribs in a large shallow pan. Place in a very hot 450ºF.  oven for 15 - 20 minutes or until brown. Remove from oven and pour off fat. Reduce the oven temperature to 350º F.  Mix together the jam and mustard, spread this over the top of ribs. Core apples and peel the top half. Fill the centers with brown sugar, place in baking pans around ribs. Pour hot water into baking pan. Bake for 1 hour at 350º F.  Serves 6
