Porcupine Balls

1 pound of ground beef
1/4 cup of uncooked rice Basic-Recipes.com9/19/06
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 can of tomato soup
1/4 cup of minced onion
1 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoons of shortening
1 cup of water

Combine the meat, rice, egg, 1/4 cup of soup, onion and salt; mix well and form into balls about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Brown in shortening. Combine the remaining tomato soup and 1 cup of water; pour over meat balls and simmer about 40 minutes or until the rice is tender. Makes 5 servings
