Hilo Franks

 

Hilo Franks

1 cup of apricot preserves
1/2 of an 8 ounce can(1/2 cup) of seasoned tomato sauce
1/3 cup of vinegar
1/4 cup of cooking sherry
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
2 tablespoons of honey
1 tablespoon of salad oil
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of grated fresh gingerroot or 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger
2 pounds of frankfurters
one 20 ounce can of pineapple slices, drained

 

For the sauce, combine the first 9 ingredients. Score the frankfurters on the bas and broil slowly, turning and basting often with the sauce, till hot through and glazed. The last few minutes grill pineapple rings; Place on grill, brush with basting sauce, broil and turn. Brush again with sauce. Heat the remaining sauce to pass with franks. Great with a tossed salad. Serves 8 - 10
