| Spiced Applesauce 2 pounds of cooking apples 1/2 cup of sugar 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon A dash of nutmeg 1 teaspoon of lemon juice Core and pare apples, quarter. In a medium saucepan bring 1/2 cup of water to a boil. Add apples and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat. Cover and simmer 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Water may be added if needed. Add the remainder of ingredients, stirring until combined. Applesauce may be served warm or cold. Makes 3 cups |

Spiced Applesauce 2
4 pounds of cooking apples 3/4 cup of water 1/2 cup of firmly packed brown sugar 1 teaspoon of cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg 2 teaspoons of lemon juice
Wash, peel, quarter and core apples. Put into large saucepan with water. Cover and simmer 20 minutes, stir occasionally. Add more water, if needed. Press through food mill or strainer. Stir in remainder of ingredients. Heat over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Serve warm or cold. Spiced Applesauce 3
4 pounds of tart apples, pared, cored, sliced 1/2 cup of sugar 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon 1 cup of water 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
Place apples in crock pot. Combine sugar and cinnamon and mix with apples. Blend in water and lemon juice. Cover and cook on LOW 5-7 hours or on HIGH 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 hours.
