Old Fashioned Buttermilk Pound Cake

1/2 cup of butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup of shortening
2 cups of sugar
4 eggs
1/2 teaspoon of soda
1 cup of buttermilk
3 cups of all purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of lemon extract
1 teaspoon of almond extract

Cream butter and shortening; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy, add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition; dissolve soda in buttermilk. Combine flour and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix well after each addition. Stir in lemon and almond flavorings. Pour batter into a greased and floured pan. 10 inch tube pan preferably. Bake at 350ºF. for 1 hour and 5 minutes. Cool pan 10 to 15 minutes. Cool completely.
