ABM No Pain Ordinaire 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons of bread machine yeast 2 cups of bread flour 1 tablespoon of sugar 3/4 teaspoon of salt 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter 2/3 cup of water Additional unsalted butter, for a softer crust, optional |

Combine the yeast, flour, sugar, salt, butter and water in the bread machine pan. Process on the basic bread setting. Remove the bread from the bread pan to a rack to cool. For a softer crust, immediately rub the top and sides of the loaf lightly with butter or place the warm loaf in a plastic bag. Close the bag and finish cooling. Makes one 1 pound loaf.
