| | Nut Bread 3 cups of all purpose flour 1 cup of sugar 1 tablespoon of baking powder 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda 1 beaten egg 1 2/3 cups of milk 1/4 cup of cooking oil 3/4 cup of chopped nuts |

In a mixing bowl stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda. In another bowl combine the beaten egg, milk, and cooking oil. Add to the flour mixture, stirring just until combined. Stir nuts into batter. Pour nut bread batter into a greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan, two 7 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 2 inch loaf pans. Bake in a 350ºF. oven for 1 to 1 1/4 hours for the 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf, 40 to 45 minutes for the 7 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 2 inch loaf pan or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan or pans for 10 minutes. remove, cool thoroughly on wire racks. Wrap and store overnight before slicing. Makes 1 large loaf, or 2 small loaves. Nut Bread 2
3 cups of graham flour 1 1/2 cups of flour (bread flour) 5 teaspoons of baking powder 2 teaspoon of baking soda 1 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 1/2 cup of brown sugar 3 cups of sour milk (or buttermilk) 1 1/2 cups of sliced Brazil nuts, (optional)
Mix dry ingredients together and add buttermilk and stir well. Then stir in nuts (if desired), until evenly distributed. Pour into 2 greased loaf pans. Bake about 1 hour in slow oven at 325ºF.

1 cup of nuts, walnuts 2 eggs 2 cups of brown sugar 2 cups of sour milk, add 2 tablespoons of vinegar 4 cups of flour 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 teaspoon of baking powder 2 teaspoon s of soda
Beat eggs and sugar thoroughly. Add milk and beat well. Add flour, salt, baking powder and soda. Stir in nuts. Bake in wax paper lined 5 1/2 x 10 1/2 loaf pan in moderate oven at 350ºF. for 1 hour. Texture and flavor improves after 12 hours.

2 cups of sugar 2 eggs, beaten 1 teaspoon of salt 1/2 cup of raisins (optional) 1 cup of nuts (walnuts work well) 4 teaspoons of baking powder 4 cups of flour 2 cups of milk
Beat sugar, eggs, and salt together well. Add raisins, nuts, flour, baking powder, and milk. Mix all together well. Pour into well greased tea bread pans (3) or regular bread pans (2). Let rise for 50 minutes. Bake in 350ºF. oven for 1 hour or until pick comes out clean.

1 cup of sugar 2 1/2 cups of flour 1 egg, beaten 2 teaspoons of soda 1 tablespoon of butter, melt in 1 1/2 cup of boiling water 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 package of pitted dates 1 tablespoon of vanilla 1 cup of nuts or 1/2 cup of nuts & 1/2 cup of raisins
Put boiling water (with butter dissolved in it) over dates. Let stand until cool. Combine other ingredients. Add dates, nuts or raisins. Bake in 300ºF. oven for 1 hour. Makes 2 loaves. Freezes well. Bread Cookbooks |
