Fried Cheese 2 1 pound of Mozzarella cheese 1/2 cup of flour 1 egg, beaten 1 cup of cooking oil 1/2 cup of bread crumbs Cut cheese into 3/4 inch cubes. Roll in flour, then dip in beaten egg, then bread crumbs. Heat no more than 2 inches of oil. Fry for 20 to 30 seconds or until golden brown. Italian Styled Fried Cheese 3 1 pound of Mozzarella cheese, cut in 2" x 1/2" rectangles 2 eggs, beaten 1/4 cup of flour 2/3 cups of seasoned bread crumbs 1 tablespoons of olive oil 1 clove garlic, crushed 28 ounce can of crushed Italian tomatoes Salt & pepper to taste 1 teaspoon of crushed oregano 1/2 teaspoon of sugar 1/4 teaspoon of crushed dried basil In three separate bowls, put eggs, flour and seasoned dry bread crumbs. Dip cheese in egg, then flour, then egg, then crumbs. Place on wax paper. Refrigerate 1 hour. Fry cheese in olive oil, turning once. Drain and serve with sauce. SAUCE: In 2 quart saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil, brown garlic and remove; add crushed tomatoes and seasonings. Simmer 45 minutes, uncovered.
